PVCC Career Panel Features Local Computing and Engineering Leaders

Charlottesville, Va. – February 7, 2020 – The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Career Services Office will host a Computing and Engineering career panel on Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The panel, which is free and open to the public, will be held on the main campus of PVCC,  in the North Mall Meeting Room located in the main building. The event is part of the “Eat & Meet” employer series.

Local leaders in the computing and engineering fields will share personal success stories, employer expectations, and discuss the training and qualifications necessary for careers in their fields. Panel speakers include Nate Harrison, co-founder and chief consultant with Jefferson Technology, Craig Kotarski, principal of Timmons Group, and Kendra Schmid, program director of WillowTree.

Nate Harrison is the co-founder and chief consultant of Jefferson Technology, a Charlottesville IT services company providing managed IT services, professional consulting and retail sales to businesses and professional organizations in the local area and beyond. He has over 20 years in information technology, including serving as the IT Services Manager of Blue Ridge InternetWorks and as the Lead Systems Administrator at CACI. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University and New River Community College.

Since attending Piedmont Virginia Community College and graduating from the University of Virginia, Craig Kotarski has led civil engineering design and planning for projects ranging from industrial and commercial to residential and institutional. He was a selection to Engineering News Record’s “Top 20 Under 40” and has held leadership positions with both the Urban Land Institute and Virginia Economic Developers Association. 

Kendra Schmid has a 15-year career in software engineering ranging from development, quality assurance, requirements analysis and project management to executive leadership. She has worked at an EPA consulting firm, e-commence product company, and is currently at a digital agency specializing in mobile apps. Schmid is also on the board of Shift/Enter, a local technology non-profit focused on helping people enter into technical careers.
