The PVCC Thomas Jefferson Adult and Career Education Department Partners with Ten Thousand Villages for Community Event
Charlottesville, Va. – December 10, 2019 – The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Thomas Jefferson Adult and Career Education (TJACE) Department is partnered with Ten Thousand Villages for a cultural community shopping event to be held Sunday, December 15, 2019. The event will be held at Ten Thousand Villages from 1:00-5:00 p.m., with a portion of the sales to be donated in support of the Charlottesville Festival of Cultures.
Ten Thousand Villages, located on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, is a not-for-profit fair-trade retailer, providing a marketplace for hand-crafted products made by people in marginalized areas of the world. The Festival of Cultures is organized by PVCC’s TJACE, with the support of many individuals and organizations that recognize the importance of building bridges between new Americans and established residents. According to Festival Coordinator Natalie Detert, “We are delighted to partner with Ten Thousand Villages, whose multicultural appreciation and commitment to community closely reflects our own.”
The Festival of Cultures is an annual community event that celebrates the area’s linguistic and cultural diversity. The day features family-friendly international music and dance performances, cultural exhibits, hands-on activities for kids, artisan crafts, and ethnic food.
